MASIA DE LA ROQUA

The wines of Masia de la Roqua is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea, the surrounding forest, the vegetation, and its deep history. Located in Olivella, a small town in Massís del Garraf a mountainous range that sits right between Barcelona and Tarragona, the winery has existed for centuries. The vineyard house dates back to 1164, the cellar was named in 1549, and wine growing began in 1678. The Mediterranean climate makes the area ideal for growing olive trees, almond trees, and vines. The winemaker Jot Camps comes from a lineage of vintners. He was taught how to work with vines by his father before moving to France to further is wine education.
In Masia de la Roqua we find argilo-calcareous soils, shallow and with a high proportion of lime. The indigenous white varietals that grow in the vineyard are macabeu, xarel·lo, parellada, malvasia de sitges, andmuscat. The indigenous reds are sumoll, garnatxa negre, and marselan.
